And also ensure that the Boilers and furnace are in good working condition, to make sufficient warm temperature inside the rental property. Stay on Top of The Weather:

If you are waiting for clearing the snow it makes the tenants life in danger which is the biggest safety issue, because of heavy snow. Use shovel and put down salt on all the entrance or anywhere may tenant go outside the rental property. If you have outside parking lot, you remove snow by hiring a company but they need some payment for their work or you may also do it yourself but it need extra efforts and time too.
If your renter's are leaving for some time, make sure that heating are kept on at rental property. It can be difficult task to convince them if they are paying for their own utilities. It's landlords responsibility to aware tenants about preventing pipe freeze which lead to pipe burst and can cause lots of water damage to their home rentals. As renters, you will not have to be kept as normal temperature when you are present in rental property, you just need to set on ideal temperature which can produce enough heat, pipe freeze will not take place.
Interior Doors Open:
Mostly pipes are located inside the cabinets. So when the temperatures drops, it is a good idea to keep cabinets doors open through which warm air can flow easily through pipes and make them stay warm and it also avoid pipe freeze and pipe burst.
Add Extra Insulation:
Pipes in basements or attics cannot insulate properly from cold temperature. If you have problems with pipe freezing, then you use or do extra insulation. If you install pipes with foam rubber or fiberglass. It can decrease the chance of pipe freezing. Additional insulation can be also added to walls and ceilings to keep the pipe warm.
These tips should help you to keep your property and residents warm through the winter. And also remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
